Tonight's the night! Which one of these two singers will America pick to be the next "American Idol"?
Katharine McPhee: The Hollywood-raised diva with acting aspirations and a classically trained voice but inconsistent stage presence and grace under pressure.
Taylor Hicks: The soulful professional performer with the propensity to make us smile, but sometimes leaving a cheesy aftertaste.
Pre-performance, I have to give Taylor the edge, but tonight's performances will tell the tale. Will 3rd place finisher Elliott Yamin's fans move toward Taylor or Katharine? Stay tuned!

My money's on Taylor, though you never know, he could break an ankle on one of those dance moves, and Seacrest will have to put him down right there on live television.
Anything's possible.
If they can save Barbaro, they can save Taylor. I'm absurdly interested in that horse's recovery, for no apparent reason.
(If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the horse that broke its leg in the Preakness last week)
I hope that doesn't mean we will name our future kid *Barbaro*.
You know what's funny is that my mom - who went to college in Kentucky - was all bummed when she heard the winner of the Derby was named Barbaro. Her name is Barbara.
"I would have bet on that horse!" she exclaimed.
I hope she didn't lay it down for the Preakness...whoops!
It's Taylor Hicks. He is such a hottie. He knows how to win over the women in his audience.
