Bernie posted quite nicely regarding our Friday outing with my co-workers, so I'll just give you a quick follow up on the rock tumbler I won on eBay.
Ran for 1 hour, fell into pieces. Seller won't warrant or refund according to the auction. I went to Harbor Freight today and bought a regular tumbler, and our gems are tumbling as we speak.

I recall having one of those when I was eight. Survived about as long as your Ebay version. I'm anxious to see the one from Harbor Freight.. does it come with a 5HP gasoline engine?

The eBay one came from Harbor Freight, too. The second one is a rotary model instead of the vibratory one, so I expect it'll last. I got the extended warranty for $6, so it will probably last forever.
At least until the warranty expires ;)
